Maritime VSAT
Maritime Internet is a service for the transmission of information and access to the Internet using a special set of telecommunications equipment for sea and river vessels, designed to receive and transmit information in the VSAT standard, currently providing connection speeds up to 100 Mbps.
A set of telecommunications equipment may include:
- Maritime stabilized satellite antenna - Intellian or SAILOR;
- Satellite router - iDirect or Newtec;
- A kit of telecommunication equipment (router/firewall, network switch, wifi access points, voip-phones, etc.)

Satellite television at sea
To receive a satellite TV signal at sea, you need a high-quality receiving antenna that allows you to work with TV broadcasting satellites in the DVB-S / DVB-S2 standard with the functions of capturing and holding the satellite when maneuvering the ship.

Rich satellite libraries and the ability to program the parameters of any of them allow you to watch your favorite TV shows, movies and video clips in any region where the vessel is located.
Please note, that some channels are broadcast in encrypted form and to view them you need to install a receiver or a TV with a CAM module, which are selected individually for the navigation region of the vessel.
Inmarsat and Iridium
Traditional satellite communication systems at sea from Inmarsat and Iridium. The most famous terminals are Inmarsat FleetBroadband and Iridium Certus.
This solution is characterized by low cost of equipment, ease of installation and configuration, and, as a result, rapid implementation and commissioning.
As significant negative aspect, it should be noted the need for strict traffic control, the presence of per-minute billing for calls or streaming and per-megabyte billing for data transfer, which often leads to an excess of the cost of the communication services over the cost of the equipment in the first months of its operation.
However, in our projects, we consider this equipment as a reasonable alternative for redundant communications based on the VSAT solution, since it allows both telephone communication and information transfer. And taking into account the availability of special airtime plan "VSAT Backup", the operation of such a solution does not introduce significant costs under the item of expenses for communication services.
